- FOUND: FAILED SMOG REPORT SHOWED STORED CODE IN ECM FOR CATALYST EFFICIENCY BELOW THRESHOLD BANK 1 LIVE DATA SHOWS SHORT TERM FUEL TRIMS AT IDLE AT 16% AND -5% AT PART THROTTLE WITH NO LOAD FOR BANK 1 AND 11% ON BANK 2 AT IDLE. REMOVED SPARK PLUG FROM BANK 1 AND FOUND WRONG TYPE OF SPARK PLUG INSTALLED IN ENGINE. THE PLUGS INSTALLED IN THE ENGINE ON ARRIVAL ARE COPPER CORE PLUGS, THIS ENGINE CALLS FOR DOUBLE PLATINUM OR IRIDIUM PLUGS. RECOMMEND REPLACEMENT OF THE SPARK PLUGS. UPON REMOVAL OF THE INTAKE PLENUM FOR SPARK PLUG REPLACEMENT, TECH ALEX NOTED ALSO LARGE AMOUNT OF CARBON DEPOSITS ON THE BACKSIDE OF THE INTAKE VALVES. TECH ALEX THEN WALNUT BLASTED THE INTAKE VALVES AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO THE CUSTOMER AND CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY AS WELL. UPON RE-INSTALL AND STARTUP OF THE ENGINE, AFTER ROAD TEST THE FUEL TRIMS DROPPED TO +/- 2% AT IDLE AND AT PART THROTTLE.
